Afghans in SRI LANKA

Historically, not many Afghans have visited or settled permanently in Sri Lanka. But the number of Afghans visiting the country has steadily grown since 2001. This includes Afghan tourists, students, businesspeople, and migrants in transit to other countries. It is one of the key purposes of this Embassy to enhance people-to-people ties between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, encouraging two-way exchanges through business and investment, higher education and capacity-building cooperation, as well as cultural cooperation, based on a number of bilateral agreements and MOUs signed and to be signed between our two Governments.
