Afghan Foreign and Defense Ministers Write Their Sri Lankan Counterparts on National Day and Further Cooperation


Colombo: - In a recent message to his Sri Lankan counterpart Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Foreign Minister Mohammed Haneef Atmar extended his "best wishes on the occasion of the National Day of the friendly country of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka."

"Over the past decade, we have witnessed notable progress in bilateral relations between our two countries. I believe that in light of the mutual goodwill and respect to each other’s interests, and availing ourselves of the existing opportunities, our bilateral ties in the political, economic, and commercial areas will continue growing," said the Foreign Minister. 

At the same time, Afghan Defense Minister Asadullah Khalid wrote his Sri Lankan counterpart Defense Minister Gotabaya Rajapaksa, wishing him a happy National Day. "Afghanistan-Sri Lanka Partnership is more vital than ever, particularly as we confront regional security challenges and work hand-in-hand to achieve shared economic and political objectives," said Defense Minister Khalid in his message.
