Ambassador Haidari Calls on Minister of Education Kariyawasam and Encourages Exchange of Ministerial Delegations
Colombo: - Ambassador M. Ashraf Haidari called on the Honorable Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, the Sri Lankan Minister of Education, on March 28, 2019. He congratulated the Minister on Sri Lanka's continued investment in social development, enabling the country's the highest literacy rate in South Asia.
Ambassador Haidari highlighted the importance of a ministerial delegation to visit Sri Lanka for a discussion of such issues as curriculum development, vocational skills development, youth exchange programs, as well as scholarships for qualified students. "There is much Afghanistan and Sri Lanka may learn from each other's instructive experiences in the education sector, while our educationists could certainly benefit from the expertise of Sri Lankan education professionals in and outside of the government," commented Ambassador Haidari.
The Minister welcomed the suggestion. And on behalf of the Minister of Education of Afghanistan, the Honorable Mirwais Balkhi, Ambassador Haidari invited the Minister to consider a visit to Afghanistan as well.
