Ambassador Haidari Discusses the Formation of Afghanistan-Sri Lanka Business Council to Promote Bilateral Trade

Colombo: - Sri Lankan business community representatives, Mr. H.B. Tennekoon and Mr. J.D.J. Abayasekara, called on Ambassador M. Ashraf Haidari on April 3, 2019, responding to his recent interview about business and investment opportunities in Afghanistan.

They discussed the importance of forming a bilateral business council, whose membership should consist of major businesses on both sides with an interest in investment in Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Ambassador Haidari introduced the business representatives to the daily updated website of the Embassy with a section on "Invest in Afghanistan," which is replete with useful information on doing business in Afghanistan. The Ambassador also told them about his recent meeting with the Honorable Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen, who is firmly committed to developing bilateral trade ties with Afghanistan, in collaboration with his Afghan counterpart the Honorable Minister Ajmal Ahmady.
