Ambassador Haidari Interacts in Q&A Discussion with Researchers of the Lakshman Kadirgammar Institute
Colombo: - Ambassador M. Ashraf Haidari met virtually and took questions from the Executive Director and researchers of the Lakshman Kadirgammar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies, discussing a wide range of issues of bilateral interest and concern to Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
From perceptions of insecurity in the country and its impact on trade and investment to sectors, where major Sri Lankan firms could explore numerous investment opportunities and move in to reap windfall profits in Afghanistan's virgin markets, were discussed.
Ambassador Haidari took note of the recently signed MOU between the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, establishing the Afghanistan-Sri Lanka Trade Desks in the two Chambers with the goal of bolstering bilateral trade and soon facilitating B-to-B meetings, exchange of trade delegations, holding trade fairs, as well as organizing business match-making conferences, which the Afghan Embassy in Colombo would help facilitate, in cooperation with the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kabul.
