Ambassador Haidari Represents Afghanistan at the Third Meeting of ICAPP Asia-Europe Political Forum

Colombo: - Ambassador M. Ashraf Haidari represented Afghanistan at the Third Meeting of the Asia-Europe Political Forum, organized by the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 06, 2019.

The opening remarks largely highlighted the common challenges, needs and opportunities—which the political parties of Asia should focus on and collaborate to address and take advantage of to benefit their societies. Issues of climate change, marine pollution, freedom of navigation, dispute resolution, and aging (soon 1 billion Asians) were discussed.

Ambassador Haidari met with and reminded a number of the legislative participants of the challenge of transnational and regional terrorism in Asia, which has most affected Afghanistan over the past 18 years. He urged the legislative participants to do their part in their respective parliaments to further enhance international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, in line with the Unite Nations Counter-Terrorism Strategy and its related resolutions.
