Ambassador Haidari Visits the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy, Meets the Academy Commandant
Trincomalee: - As part of his recent official trip to the Eastern Province, Ambassador M. Ashraf Haidari paid a visit to the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy – China Bay and met with the Academy’s Commandant Air Commodore Bandu Edirisinghe. The Ambassador appreciated the very warm welcome and hospitality, which the Academy’s Commandant and staff extended to him.
Ambassador Haidari briefed the Air Commodore on the growing Afghanistan-Sri Lanka bilateral relations. Following the meeting, the Academy’s instructors discussed their training programs, which sometimes include foreign trainees from neighboring countries. The Ambassador expressed hope that in the future some Afghan Air Force cadets could also benefit from the prestigious Academy’s training opportunities, which he said he would discuss in his next meeting with the Sri Lankan Air Force Commander.
Ambassador Haidari congratulated Air Commodore Edirisinghe on his recent take over the command of the Academy, as he recalled the heroic performance of Sri Lankan pilots in the fight against terrorism during the country’s war years. He said Afghan pilots were also making daily sacrifices, defending Afghanistan and the rest of the region against terrorism, extremism, and criminality.
Presenting to the Air Commodore the Afghanistan-Sri Lanka Friendship Plaque as memento, Ambassador Haidari wished the Commandant and his staff the best in their outstanding services to Sri Lanka.
