Foreign Minister Mohammed Haneef Atmar Receives Sri Lanka's New Ambassador to Afghanistan
Kabul: - Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed Haneef Atmar met today with Sri Lanka's new Ambassador to Afghanistan, Admiral (RETD) Kariyawasam Kellapatha Vithanage Piyal Harischandra De Silva, at the Storai Palace.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister described Kabul and Colombo's relations as solid, based on friendship and mutual respect. He thanked Sri Lanka for its diplomatic support and continued cooperation to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
Mr. Atmar also wished the Sri Lankan Ambassador success in his mission and called for enhanced cooperation between Kabul and Colombo.
Referring to the excellent and friendly relations between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, Mr. De Silva presented a copy of his credentials to Mr. Atmar. He assured the Afghan Foreign Minister of continuing efforts to strengthen and expand relations between Kabul and Colombo.
